Ibernordic are developing an increasing portfolio of renewable energy projects across Italy with particular presence in the regions of Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, Molise, Basilicata and Sicily. The projects vary in terms of technology, capacity, authorization procedure and current stage of development – from origination phase through early- and late-stage development to development completion

We bring a professional approach to developing renewable energy projects, identifying opportunities to drive projects forward with partners and through our expert in-house development team

In the 2010’s, Ibernordic focused primarily on the onshore wind power market, having developed and authorized offshore and onshore wind turbines around Italy. From the 2020’s, Ibernordic shifted its focus to the onshore solar power market and have ever since increased its portfolio of photovoltaic and agrivoltaic solar projects in Italy. Today, Ibernordic develops large-scale solar power projects and battery energy storage systems across the Italian regions with capacities ranging between 5 and 50 MW.

Our approach is to utilize our in-house project development expertise by working closely with our local partners – engineering companies and project developers – who are even closer to the landowners and authorities, which is essential to secure project success. Ibernordic is a network-based company for whom the right partnerships are of the highest importance.

We specialize in:

  • Project feasibility and grid studies
  • Reliable production estimates
  • Securing all land rights
  • Project economics, and power market analysis
  • Regulatory, permitting, and environmental compliance
  • Interconnection structures and grid connection agreements
  • Local participation and collaboration

The green transition requires partnerships. We work with renewable energy investors, who wish to combine investing in the green transition with strong returns. We provide various partnership models tailored to the preferences of renewable energy investors

Renewable energy investments

Renewable energy investments from independent power producers, utilities, private-equity funds and other types of investors are necessary for the projects to be constructed and the green transition to materialize.

Our approach is to create new projects and de-risked investment opportunities by optimizing the projects for long-term renewable energy investors and owners. These partnership models include co-development partnerships, portfolio and asset acquisitions, as well as the acquisition of development completed projects.

Since 2021, Ibernordic have worked closely with the renewable energy investor BKW. BKW is a listed Swiss energy and infrastructure company operating around 1,000 MW of renewable energy assets in Europe. Ibernordic and BKW are working to honor their 250 MW co-development agreement, which up to now includes projects in Basilicata and Lazio that are in the final stages of the authorization.

Ibernordic is an active member of the Association of the Italian Solar PV Community, Italia Solare, which is the only Italian association dedicated exclusively to Solar PV and to technology integration for smart energy management

Italia Solare’s executive board and working groups provide high level technical, regulatory and market expertise and know-how, which make it possible for the association to contribute to discussions on energy policies at institutional as well as technical level.

On behalf of Ibernordic, Luca Leone, Country Manager Italy, are an active member of Italia Solare’s working groups dedicated to ‘agrivoltaic (Agri-PV) projects’ and ‘legislation & regulation’.
